I've become super flaky when it comes to posting on the blog. Life has been busy and great. I really have no complaints here. This summer has been so awesome and I feel like I'm getting a lot accomplished.
My mission president and his wife came home from their mission about two weeks ago and today was their homecoming. My friends Burke and Rachelle Kunz came down from Idaho Falls and spent the night with my family which is always stellar. They are so fantastic and there is just a certain glow around them that makes anyone happy to be around them.
I have a thought on reunions, particularly mission reunions. First off, they are great. One of the best aspects of my mission was how I got to spend so much time with stalwart individuals who were all sharing the gospel and testifying of Christ. I love seeing these people and having fantastic memories come flooding back into mind. There is a flip side to the joyful revelry however and it goes like this:
Me: Hey (last name)! It is so good to see you. How are you?
Friend: I'm so great. How are you?
Me: Great! What are you up to these days?
Friend: Oh just going to school at (insert a Utah based school). What about you? Where are you?
Me: I'm just living the dream up at Utah State. What are you studying?
Friend: (Insert major) What about you?
Me: Business Administration
Friend: That's great. Are you dating anyone?
Me: No, you?
Friend: (Responses vary. It could be one of the following: yes I am; no I'm not; actually this is my wife)
Me: (Regardless of response) Well that's great. It's so good to see you.
Friend: You too.
We then awkwardly part ways wondering if there are any other required questions we forgot to ask. Repeat this scenario with everyone.
This is me with President and Sister Pendelton two weeks before I came home.
Ha ha! I swear that is the exact conversation I have with 90% of people that I never see. Blink blink, ponder that statement . . .
