Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other

I had the opportunity to hike up to the top of Grandeur Peak Wednesday. My friends and I had attempted to accomplish this task last summer but failed because one of us was sick and she quickly realized that this was no sabbath nature walk. This was the first mountain that I've ever hiked to the top of and I was really proud of myself for doing so. The views of the Salt Lake Valley were spectacular to say the least.

The hike to the top is a rather long trek but there is nothing too difficult other than a few steep inclines. The last 30 minutes are more difficult because 1) you've already been hiking for 1 1/2 hours 2) the ground gets rocky and you have to step up a lot more than previously 3) you can see the peak looming but you know you're so far away. It was at this point that the awful 'just put one foot in front of the other' song popped into my head. I guess I'm somewhat grateful for it because it made it easier to climb and I didn't have to hear myself breathing heavily. Needless to say we made it to the top and my lungs were finally able to take a breather.
